I got 25.65 miles per gallon on my road trip today, shattering my previous record! Maybe the car just loves to breathe, because I wasn’t driving with any regards to fuel economy, nor was I taking speed limits very literally in the twists... Or on a few straights... Or pretty much any... Um...

My poor mileage was your good luck... Bastard.

Congrats, that’s awesome. I don’t get why my car likes those drives, either, as I should be getting awful mileage, considering how I was driving (as you saw).
When I got home my dash showed this:
Fuelly confirmed that splitting the difference with the fill at Castle Rock, it was pretty accurate.

After the headline I was expecting something about a house, good sea, accepted offer.
Was a bit bummed at a mpg overachievement.
If I’m driving mostly hwy to work going 70-80mph I’ll average couple more mpg. .... 23 then.

I think it’s because I’m turning over 2800 at 60mph, but only 3200 at 80 or so. So basically the engine is barely working harder and I’m covering ground 33% faster.

I’ve been “hypermiling” the Wrangler. Best I can get is 17 .4mpg city. It gets worse on the highway. I can get 34+ mpg on the highway in the X1, but somehow my wife only manages an average of 23mpg mixed city/highway.

I don’t think that’s how it works, but I could be wrong. You were also going uphill, which is never great for fuel economy.

No no, I think I’m on to something here. Except increased wind resistance and friction, whatever. I’m not a physicist. I’m just saying: I almost got 26 for the first time ever when I usually average 20.
Hills aren’t much of an obstacle because it has so much pull in 5th gear. It never downshifts unless I floor it suddenly, but it never lugs.

Are you sure you weren’t hypermiling? Passed by a 4cyl diesel Mercedes, I dunno:
Per the car I got around 43 mpg on the way there, 42 on the way home (surprising, as 405 resembled a weekday morning).

Watching all these clips of yours with classical inthe background really makes me want a dashcam lol. What kind are you using

This is a Blackvue DRG650 - it is probably close to 4 years old now, I don’t think the model is in production, but there are newer variants.

It was non-felonious.

What about on the cruise??
The bikes got 40, I bet you were close O.o

Don’t think I can say the same for me and AMGtech... but we didn’t take videos ¯\_()_/¯

Per the car, ~43 on the way there, 42 on the way back. Deduct maybe 5% for optimism, and pretty close. My ride may be less exhilarating, but as it poured off and on from around JBLM north, I’ll take that trade-off.

Any triple digits on that road? Seems like it wouldn’t justify a lot of enforcement = fun.

Didn’t check my speedo, but some of those passes sure did feel north of 130 ;)
